Glad you are into that kind of thing, but all of these seem like they are more of a headache than something your secretary can learn in one hour, like Filemaker. Is also a Mac database app you can try. It's not free, but it's much cheaper than FileMaker Pro and it has iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch versions.

Importing from Excel is a must, as well as being able to export sections of data to an iPhone, iPad, etc., and possibly to Android.

After all, we had lots of time back then. Of course there was always a need for small businesses to build databases, but those tended to be relational. And that was perhaps part of the problem. Databases that could handle relational concepts tended to be a bit more complex and expensive. That meant ever more development costs that were lost on the average user. Meanwhile, the typical home customer—who thinks in terms of flat files—got caught up in the forward rush into ever more complex databases for business and perhaps even file format updates.

That said the HP I am running my network monitoring from features two netXtreme NICs. IMHO, Access is a bloated, inelegant monster of a program. It seems to have 'grown like Topsy', especially during early years, and has become so HUGE and awkward that I imagine adapting it to another operating system would be a nightmare. Don't get me wrong - I use it; I need it; I can't run my organization without it.
