I've run into this issue before. I had to close outlook, delete the OST file and allow outlook to recreate the file and reindex the emails. We had to let the indexing process run overnight since it only does it when the computer is idle but the next day the search tool worked like it should. Sync between Mac's Addres Book and Outlook 2011 Contacts wont work 2014-01-06 I have about 3000 contacts in Mac's Address Book and my Outlook 2011 'Contacts' Folder is empty. I activate 'Preferences>Sync Services' in Outlook.
[ Editor’s note: This is a review of the final, shipping version of Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. The software was provided to Macworld by Microsoft in advance of the suite’s general release.] is a new e-mail client and personal information manager from Microsoft, not just an upgrade to its predecessor, ( ). Outlook 2011 has some features that Entourage had, but if you approach Outlook 2011 expecting it to be an upgraded Entourge, you’re going to be frustrated. As someone who is, by any measure of the term, an Entourage power user, I found that once I stopped thinking about Outlook as “Entourage 2011,” my experience with the new software quickly became much easier. Version 1.0 Outlook 2011’s Mailing List Manager, Scheduling Manager, and Rules implementation are mostly unchanged from Entourage. Otherwise, Outlook 2011 is all new.
Is this a bug? Mac mini. Is there a better solution for syncing?

If you want to recover a deleted folder, see the section below. • For single items, Right-click the required item, then click Move To Folder. In the drop-down menu, then select the required folder from the list and then click on OK. If you want to 'un-delete' several items at a time, click on the first item, then hold down the SHIFT key while you click on the last of the required items - this selects all the items in the range. Or, hold down the CTRL key while you click on several selected items - this selects all the items you click.
I don't know if you all have found the solution but this should fix it. Just tested and resolved with the following process.
Outlook For Mac 2011
If I stop Outlook results from showing up in Spotlight then I don't have search inside Outlook -- that is just horrible and bad engineering. I don't know what MS engineers did making Outlook use Spotlight as I get hundreds of email results when I use Spotlight to search for things that have nothing to do with email (and I have unchecked mail messages from being searched in Spotlight). It just doesn't make sense. How does text wrangler work for messages on iphone and mac. MS needs to rethink, re-engineer, fix this search functionality in a patch for the current Outlook (11) -- it is quite a pita to have to deal with all the olkxx results (a waste of cpu, time to sort through them, etc.). Yeah, this bugs me a bit since my company forced us to switch to Outlook after the new version launched -- they didn't know how bad it is, how it's not the same as Windows, and doesn't work as well as clients like Thunderbird.
Summary of things to try: 1) Rebuild the Outlook Identity (see this link: ) 2) Repair disk permissions in Disk Utility 3) rebuild the Spotlight DB by opening a terminal window and typing 'sudo mdutil -E /' 4) give up If you're looking to get your Identities folder backed up/ synced by Dropbox, try the other way around -- putting a symlink in the Dropbox folder to the MS Identities directory. If none of these work, I believe you're SOL. I've done a lot of poking around here. My issue is that I want Outlook search to work ONLY within Outlook. I don't want any search results to show up in Spotlight/Finder search--it's way too messy and I have duplicates as I have Mail.app connected to my Exchange account as well. Click to expand. I had a user come in complaining of no search feature in outlook 2011.
